Mathematicsdisciplinewas founded in 1929, which is one of the earliest disciplines of Science in Chongqing University. Many famous mathematicians, such as He Lu, Ke Zhao and Hu kunsheng, have taught in the Department of Mathematics of Chongqing University. They have laid a good foundation for theestablishmentand development of mathematics in Chongqing University.

At present, mathematicsdisciplinehas a level-1 doctoral program in mathematics, a level-1 keydisciplinein Chongqing, a postdoctoral program in mathematics, the Key Laboratory of Chongqing Science and Technology Commission, the Key Laboratory of Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, Chongqing Mathematics Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, Chongqing Institute of Mathematical Science, Chongqing University Mathematics Center and other research platforms. Mathematics entered the top 1% of ESI subjects. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation, mathematicswas rankedB+. In 2018, among the best disciplines in China, mathematics discipline of our college ranked 29th among 260 units in China. At present, mathematics discipline has analysis and algebra research group, dynamic system research group, partial differential equation and application research group and operation andcomputingresearch group. This discipline has published three papers inthe world’stop four journals of mathematics.
